Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 5, 2026

PDFCompressor.site (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.

The short version

Your PDF files never leave your device. Compression happens entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. We never see, store, or transmit your files or their contents. The only personal information we collect is your email address if you join our waitlist.

What we collect

Waitlist email address

If you submit your email to join the waitlist, we store it with Resend (our email delivery provider). We use this solely to notify you when the tool launches. We will not send marketing emails, sell your address, or share it with third parties.

Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-first analytics tool. Umami does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. It tracks aggregate page view counts and anonymised interaction events (e.g. “waitlist form submitted”) so we can understand how the site is used.

What we do NOT collect

How compression works (and why your files are private)

When you compress a PDF, the file is loaded into your browser's local memory. Ghostscript — compiled to WebAssembly — runs entirely within your browser tab. The compressed output is written back to your disk via a browser download. At no point does any file data transit our servers or any third-party server.

The only network request made during compression is a one-time download of the Ghostscript WebAssembly binary (~16 MB) from a CDN. This binary is a static, publicly available file — it is not specific to you or your files.

Data retention and deletion

If you are on the waitlist, your email address is retained until you request removal or until we send the launch notification, after which we will remove it from our active list. To request deletion at any time, email us at privacy@pdfcompressor.site.

Third-party services

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you (GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations). Since we only hold email addresses for waitlist members, the practical scope of this is limited. Contact privacy@pdfcompressor.site with any requests.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
